ASSET Reliability Division – Mechanical Engineer

CWA Engineers Inc. (CWA) is an industry-leading consulting engineering firm that provides services in the ports and marine terminals, and mining, infrastructure, and wood products industries to clients across North America and around the world.

With our expanding client base and growing project needs, CWA is looking to add a qualified Mechanical Engineer to our growing ASSET Reliability Division.

Working under the direction of the ASSET Reliability Division Manager, your work will include performing equipment and facility condition inspections, compiling and writing reports, and preparing drawings/ estimates and proposals. This position involves occasional travel to job sites on a short-term basis to perform inspection work and requires the ability to liaison with clients, contractors and other engineering consultants. The position also involves performing engineering and design for a variety of projects often related to the inspection work being performed.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and characteristics:

  • A Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Professional Registration with APEGBC.
  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant mechanical design experience in the heavy industrial sector.
  • Experience conducting inspection and repair design of a range of equipment, such as shiploaders, ship unloaders, reclaimers, and rail car dumpers; design experience including conveying systems, bulk loading and unloading equipment, buildings and structural support systems for process equipment.
  • Experience writing detailed specifications, reports, estimates, and proposals.
  • Experience reading, understanding, and applying design criteria, industry standards, and client specifications.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Excellent memory and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to multitask and to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
