ASSET Reliability Division – Structural Engineer

CWA Engineers Inc. is an industry-leading consulting engineering firm that provides services in the ports and marine terminals, and mining, infrastructure, and wood products industries to clients across North America and around the world.

With our expanding client base and growing project needs, CWA is looking for a qualified Structural Engineer to join our dynamic ASSET Reliability Division team.

Working under the direction of the Asset Reliability Division Manager, your work will include performing equipment and facility condition inspections, compiling and writing reports, and preparing drawings/estimates and proposals. This position involves travel to job sites on a short-term basis to perform inspection work and requires the ability to liaison with clients, contractors, and other engineering consultants. The position also involves performing engineering and design for a variety of projects often related to the inspection work being performed.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering and registration with APEGBC.
  • 5-10 years of relevant design experience including conveying systems, bulk loading and unloading equipment, buildings, and structural support systems for process equipment.
  • Experience with repair design for concrete, steel, and timber.
  • Experience conducting inspection and repair design of ports, marine terminals, and a range of equipment such as shiploaders, ship unloaders, reclaimers, and rail car dumpers.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with co-workers, clients, and contractors.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and personal drive to meet tight deadlines and expectations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
  • Construction site experience is a strong asset.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
