We are looking to add a junior and senior electrical designer to our team. The position will be based in our Vancouver office at the Broadway Tech Centre, with amenities including a fitness centre, basketball and volleyball courts, an outdoor BBQ area, restaurants, cafés, bike lockers, underground parking, a daycare facility, and convenient access to the Renfrew SkyTrain Station.

Position overview:

As an integral member of our electrical team, you will be responsible for performing defined assignments with independent judgement and a high degree of accuracy while maintaining the consistency of drawings with other departments. Common deliverables will include single-line diagrams, equipment lists, grounding and lighting layouts, schematic and interconnection diagrams, cable tray and equipment layouts, cable schedules, cable block diagrams, loop sheets, and panel layouts.

Duties and responsibilities:

This position will involve the following:

  • Implementing design concepts through the preparation and production of electrical system drawings and schematics.
  • Coordinating with other consulting disciplines to ensure drawing integrity and completeness.
  • Preparing design drawings and completing design calculations.
  • Preparing lighting layout models.
  • Preparing and reviewing technical drawings (e.g. cable drawings, schematics, etc.).
  • Preparing documentation for design folders and reports.
  • Calculating design quantities for materials.
  • Assisting in the preparation of project specifications and contract documents.
  • Reviewing vendor drawings and documents.
  • Performing on-site inspection duties.
  • Striving to ensure the high-quality and timely delivery of finished products to clients.

Who you are:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and characteristics:

  • Seven to fifteen years of related industrial design experience in an electrical consulting engineering environment for a senior candidate is ideal. Any relevant experience is considered an asset for a junior candidate.
  • A completed diploma in electrical engineering technology or a related field.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) with ASTTBC.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and DIALux.
  • Proficiency in Solidworks and EasyPower is an asset.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clients.
  • The ability to adapt to new projects and quickly understand the defined scope.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • A valid BC driver’s license.
