We are looking to add one qualified intermediate electrical engineer to our team. This position will be based in our Vancouver office at the Broadway Tech Centre, with amenities including a fitness centre, basketball and volleyball courts, an outdoor BBQ area, restaurants, cafés, bike lockers, underground parking, a daycare facility, and convenient access to the Renfrew SkyTrain Station.  

Position overview:

As an integral member of our electrical team, you will use strong analytical and organizational skills to approach problems from a first principles perspective and deliver solutions with great attention to detail.

Duties and responsibilities:

This position will involve the following:

  • Designing and overseeing the development of electrical drawings including single line diagrams, grounding layouts, equipment layouts, lighting layouts, conduit and cable tray layouts, block diagrams, cable schedules, and lighting panel schedules.
  • Developing switchgear and MCC layouts, motor schematics and wiring diagrams, control wiring diagrams, and electrical equipment installation details.
  • Performing power systems design including short circuit studies, flash studies, harmonics studies, relay settings, and circuit breaker coordination.
  • Preparing PLC arrangements and I/O lists; performing PLC programming and HMI programming.
  • Preparing project proposals and cost estimates, equipment specifications, test procedures, and installation and operation manuals.
  • Producing bid documents and perform bid evaluations.
  • Coordinating with suppliers, clients, contractors, and other disciplines.

Who you are:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and characteristics:

  • Five to ten years of experience in electrical and power systems design, cost estimating, coordination, supervision, project management, and on-site commissioning for both light and heavy industry, municipal work, ports and terminals, mining facilities, oil and gas facilities, and utilities.
  • A Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering and registration as a professional engineer with EGBC.
  • Experience with short circuit studies, arc flash studies, and relay setting and coordination.
  • Knowledge of MV substations, grounding, power distribution, switchgear, MCCs, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
  • Knowledge of gensets, VFDs, and PLC, HMI, and DCS systems.
  • Familiarity with IEEE Color Books, CEC, NEC, and the BC Building Code.
  • Experience using EasyPower, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to provide direction and leadership to engineers and designers.
  • A demonstrated ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English.
  • A valid BC driver’s license.
