We are looking to add one Junior Accountant to our team. The position will be based in our Vancouver office at the Broadway Tech Centre, with amenities including a fitness centre, basketball and volleyball courts, an outdoor BBQ area, restaurants, cafés, bike lockers, underground parking, a daycare facility, and convenient access to the Renfrew SkyTrain Station.

Duties and responsibilities:

Accounting Set-Up

  • Set up new projects in the business system; liaise with project managers to set up/file rate schedules, customer details, payment plans, invoicing calendars, and multicurrency billing.
  • Ensure signed contract or purchase order is in place.


  • Review/post timesheets, credit card statements, and sub-contractor invoices for proper coding.
  • Review project transaction documents and accounts for accuracy and completeness, including sub-charges, data sheets, time reports, expenses, subcontractor invoices, etc.

  • Prepare and review draft invoices for accuracy prior to submittal for project manager approval.
  • Finalize billing and send out customer invoices, credit notes, and back-up documentation.
  • Monitor billing against project budgets and work with project managers/the Controller to resolve issues.

General Accounting

  • Process all vendor, subcontractor, and employee expense cheques and ensure accuracy.
  • Work directly with customers to ensure invoices have been received, approved, and processed.
  • Conduct A/R follow-ups and provide regular invoice status updates to the Controller and project managers.
  • Ensure that invoice and payment records are complete and up-to-date.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller.


  • Produce weekly/monthly reports such as labour detail, project cost reports, etc. for project managers.
  • Produce and analyze budget variance reports as needed.
  • Gather project accruals and provisions information as needed.
  • Assist in leading continuous improvement initiatives in processes and procedures.

Who you are:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and characteristics:

  • Related accounting education or equivalent accounting diploma.
  • Experience with deadline-oriented assignments.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Strong computer skills including a high level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Client service and public-relations oriented.
  • Friendly, enthusiastic, personable, and able to build harmonious working relationships with clients, co-workers, and the general public.
  • Well-organized and self-disciplined.
  • Proactive, persistent, and assertive, but not abrasive.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment of constantly changing deadlines and priorities.
