We are looking to add one Project Engineer to our team. This position will be based in our Vancouver office at the Broadway Tech Centre, with amenities including a fitness centre, basketball and volleyball courts, an outdoor BBQ area, restaurants, cafés, bike lockers, underground parking, a daycare facility, and convenient access to the Renfrew SkyTrain Station.

Position overview:

In this role, you will take ownership and responsibility for projects and lead a multidisciplinary team to see projects through to completion. Your responsibilities will include planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing projects; leading and preparing proposals; reviewing reports and memoranda; preparing design documentation; and liaising with clients and contractors. Your role will also include coordinating with and directing engineers, designers, and drafters to accomplish project goals.

Duties and responsibilities:

This position will involve the following:

  • Assisting project managers with overall project performance including project start-up, budget costs, schedule, project status, and efficient project close-out.
  • Assisting in overall project engineering design coordination. 
  • Providing technical evaluations for the development of design and construction standards in the project as well as maintaining the design and construction standards. 
  • Ensuring that engineering work on the project is completed in accordance with engineering plans and project health and safety requirements.
  • Coordinating engineering work between disciplines and between the engineering group and other project groups.
  • Monitoring the progress and performance of the design scope and taking corrective action where necessary to control engineering work within the budget and schedule.
  • Aiding in business development activities, i.e. writing proposals.

Who you are:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and characteristics:

  • 5-10 years of project engineering/management experience, including managing, coordinating, and implementing multidisciplinary engineering projects.
  • 5-10 years of progressive mining and/or materials handling experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and professional registration with EGBC.
  • Experience writing, reading, understanding, and applying design criteria, industry standards, and client specifications.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, memory, and record-keeping skills.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with workflows of all engineering disciplines; able to recognize gaps and bottlenecks and recommend appropriate adjustments.
  • Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment while interacting with co-workers, clients, and contractors and supervising junior engineers and designers.
  • Experience writing detailed specifications, reports, and proposals.
  • Robust skills in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Ability to meet project objectives within designated constraints. 
  • A demonstrated ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • A valid BC driver’s license.
