We are looking to add a senior materials handling designer to our team. This position will be based in our Vancouver office at the Broadway Tech Centre, with amenities including a fitness centre, basketball and volleyball courts, an outdoor BBQ area, restaurants, cafés, bike lockers, underground parking, a daycare facility, and convenient access to the Renfrew SkyTrain Station.  

Position overview:

As an integral member of our mechanical department, your main role will include the layout, design, modelling, and specification of mechanical equipment. Travel to job sites on a short-term basis may be required.

Duties and responsibilities:

This position will involve the following:

  • Performing the conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design of mineral processing and bulk material handling systems.
  • Creating layouts and detailed drawings as required for projects.
  • Assisting with and preparing specifications for the design and procurement of mining process equipment, piping, conveyors, conveyor components, stacking and reclaiming equipment, crushers, feeders, chutes, bins, and hoppers.
  • Working in a team environment on large multi-discipline projects.
  • Interacting closely with other disciplines to coordinate overall project work.
  • Assisting with field activities such as condition inspections, commissioning, and field measurements.

Who you are:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and characteristics:

  • Formal education in drafting and design.
  • 10-15 years of experience in the layout and design of mineral process plants and bulk material handling projects in the mining industry.
  • Experience with piping, dust collection, ducting, and HVAC design.
  • A demonstrated ability to read, understand, and apply design criteria, industry standards, and client specifications.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks, and/or 3D Studio would be an asset.
  • A demonstrated ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • A valid BC driver’s license.
