Intermediate Structural Engineer

CWA Engineers Inc. (CWA) is an industry-leading consulting engineering firm that provides services in the ports and marine terminals, mining and minerals, infrastructure, and wood products industries to clients across North America and around the world.

With our expanding client base and growing project needs, CWA is looking for two qualified Intermediate Structural Engineers to join our dynamic team. 

Responsibilities include preparing designs, specifications, technical parts, capital cost estimates, and schedules. In addition, this position will involve performing equipment and facility inspections. This position requires travel to job sites on a short-term basis to perform inspection work and requires the ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and other consultants. The position also involves performing engineering and design for a variety of projects often related to the inspection work being performed.

The ideal applicant will possess the following qualifications and characteristics:

  • A Bachelors Degree in Structural Engineering, and Professional Registration with APEGBC.
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant design experience including conveying systems, bulk loading and unloading equipment, buildings, and structural support systems for process equipment.
  • Experience in design of concrete, steel, and timber to Canadian Codes.
  • Experience conducting inspection and repair design of ports, marine terminals, and a range of equipment, such as ship loaders, ship unloaders, reclaimers, and rail car dumpers.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with co-workers, clients, and contractors.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). 
  • Strong attention to detail and personal drive to meet tight deadlines and high expectations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications in English.
  • Construction site experience is a strong asset.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
