Health, Safety & Environment

At CWA, a successful project is one that seamlessly interweaves the elements of health, safety, the environment, and viable economics.

Our high professional, ethical and environmental standards are at the core of all our designs and business practices.

Health & Safety

The personal health and safety of employees is our highest priority. We maintain a rigorous health and safety program and provide the training and equipment required for personal safety and health.

Our safety program is designed to help anticipate and prevent dangers to the health, safety and well-being of all persons present in the office and at the work site. It equips all personnel with guidelines on how to uphold a healthy and safe work environment.

As consulting engineers, we are aware of how our work has an impact on the health and safety of not only Canadians, but all global citizens. We therefore recognize the need for social and environmental responsibility.

CWA is committed to working with our clients to find the most sustainable and efficient solutions available. Our environmental policy is centered around our responsibilities towards the community and the environment in which we live and work.

CWA supports the responsible stewardship of resources, including forest, fish and aquatic habitat, wildlife, air, land and water. Responsible stewardship combined with a continual improvement process make sustained economic development and an improved quality of life possible.

CWA practices environmental leadership through its commitment to:

  • Conduct business in a responsible manner designed to protect the environment and the health and safety of our employees, clients and the public.
  • Provide consulting services in strict compliance with all applicable environmental legislation, regulations and environmental codes of practice.
  • Offer consulting services that meet our clients’ objectives and goals while always striving to provide better engineering and environmental solutions.
  • Develop and promote new environmental technologies and solutions aimed at minimizing environmental impact.
  • Promote environmental awareness and train our employees in their environmental responsibilities at work and in the community.
  • Work and consult with governments and the public in the development of regulations and policies based on sound technologies and the analysis of environmental and health impacts.
  • Align all business and management practices with our core value of improving our communities. Recognizing our responsibility to the environment in which we live, we always strive to minimize the impact of our operating practices on the environment.
  • Integrate environmental considerations into the processes of planning, construction and operations of the project.

APEGBC’s OQM Certification

CWA has achieved certification with Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (APEGBC)’s Organizational Quality Management (OQM) Program.

The OQM Program is a new voluntary program established by APEGBC for organizations that have registered professionals practicing in BC. The program guides employers in implementing better quality management practices to support APEGBC professionals in meeting their quality management requirements under the Engineers and Geoscientists Act and Bylaws.

As we believe that maintaining quality in our designs is integral to CWA’s success, we view this certification as a significant milestone. OQM certification demonstrates that our organization is a leader in its commitment to quality management practices and standards under the Engineers and Geoscientists Act and Bylaws.APEGBC's Organizational Quality Management Program
